Lake Vänern is not just the setting for our fishing trips — it is the foundation of everything we do.
As a fishing guide working daily on Europe’s largest freshwater lake, it is impossible to separate great fishing experiences from long-term responsibility for the resource itself.

Fishing in Lake Vänern is unique. The lake holds strong populations of salmon, trout and pike, and attracts anglers from across Europe. At the same time, the natural fish stocks have been heavily affected for decades by altered river systems, hydropower development and limited natural reproduction.

Because of this, sustainable fishing in Lake Vänern is not only about how we fish — but also about how we give something back.

Reinvesting in the Future of the Lake

A part of the income from our guided fishing trips is reinvested in Lake Vänern through smolt stocking (young salmon and trout), via Laxfond Vänern.

Smolt stocking is one of several tools used today to support salmon and trout populations in a system where natural reproduction is restricted. It does not replace natural rivers and spawning grounds, but it helps maintain fish stocks that are essential both for the ecosystem and for responsible recreational fishing.

For us, this reinvestment is not a project or a campaign. It is simply part of how we choose to work.

Sustainable Fishing Is a Long-Term Commitment

Sustainability on Lake Vänern cannot be reduced to a single measure. It requires local knowledge, respect for seasonal conditions, selective fishing methods and an understanding of the lake as a living system.

Our approach to fishing guiding in Lake Vänern is built on:

  • small groups
  • flexible trips adapted to conditions
  • respect for fish and habitats
  • long-term thinking rather than short-term results

This way of working allows guests to experience world-class freshwater fishing while knowing that the lake is treated with care.

When you fish with us on Lake Vänern, you are not only experiencing one of Europe’s most impressive freshwater fisheries — you are also supporting a way of working that aims to give something back to the lake over time.

Fishing With Responsibility

When you fish with us, you are not only experiencing Lake Vänern — you are supporting a way of working that aims to take care of the lake for the future.

Strong fishing experiences depend on healthy ecosystems.
Giving something back is simply part of earning a living on the water.
